THANK YOU
Chanctonbury Community Land Trust would like to thank every resident who has completed our survey regarding a potential Community Hub, based at the Thakeham Pre-school building on Abingworth Crescent. We received 123 responses which is a fantastic response, but as we needed to submit the proposal to Thakeham Parish Council on Friday 11th July, we analysed the responses received up to lunchtime on Wednesday 9th July, and we were able to capture the views of 104 residents in our proposal.
Some very clear themes emerged from the survey which are represented in the CCLT proposal, two of which were:
- Residents want the building to continue to be used for early years education provision - so that is what CCLT has recommended and proposed, but with provision of Nursery services too; extended hours and all year round operation to meet the needs of Thakeham's working parents with pre-school children.
- Residents strongly believe that our young people are neglected and there needs to be more provision of out of school activities for them. Although we have concluded the Pre-school building is not best suited for Youth Club provsion, a definite requirement exists, so CCLT will explore with Thakeham Parish Council and Thakeham Village Hall how we can begin to run Thakeham Youth Clubs
Full details of CCLT's bid regarding all services, including pre-school and youth club activities, are contained in the propsal which you can download by clicking the button.
Unfortunately Thakeham Parish Council chose not to accept the CCLT proposal. However the insights gained from your survey responses have clearly shown the need for a number of Community Services and CCLT will pursue initiation of these with Thakeham Parish Council, Horsham District Council and other relevant bodies. Check back to our website on a regular basis for progress updates.
